Private tutor in Potomac, MD
University of Rochester - BS/BA, Mathematics/Economics
I began tutoring when I was in high school. It started by me helping my friends understand their social studies and math homework. However, I officially became a peer tutor after joining the National Honors Society, and I spent my lunchtime tutoring history and math students. During my senior year in high school, I spent time after school tutoring a pre-calculus student with learning disabilities. Currently, I'm a student at the university of Rochester, and I've had the opportunity to be a teacher's assistant in two of the university's microeconomics classes.I feel that one of the reasons that I'm a good tutor is because I once struggled with learning concepts. My past experience helps my empathize with the students that I tutor, especially those who are having a really hard time grasping the material. Additionally, my enthusiasm for the subjects that I've chosen to tutor, allows me to create a fun educational environment for my students so that they are more receptive to learning the material and overcoming their obstacles. I tutor students in elementary and middle school math; pre-algebra, algebra I, II, III, and IIII; pre-calculus, calculus I and II; geometry; and trigonometry, as well as, differential equations, multivariable calculus, economics, and microeconomics. Additionally, I tutor students in reading, writing, phonics, American and world history, and I offer test prep services to students preparing for the ACT, SAT, and PSAT exams.
