I am a tutor currently living in DC. My travels to Costa Rica and Colombia benefit my students. I taught Social Studies at Montgomery County Public Schools, and taught Business English to adults in Costa Rica. While living in Medellin, Colombia, I taught English at La Universidad Catolica de Oriente.I earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education and history from The University of Maryland, College Park. I earned a certificate to teach English as a foreign language while I was in San Jose, Costa Rica, along with learning Spanish.I help my students by using encouragement and positive reinforcement. I believe this helps them become more successful and grow as individuals. My expectations are very high for my students, as I would like them to reach their full potential. I help them to be organized, and I show them how to achieve good study habits. I can teach them to use their time wisely. Part of my plans include using current technology. I feel this is an important part of education in today's world. Learning should be enjoyable for students, so I try to make sure this is all a part of my lesson plans.
